National Sales Manager

Tablas Creek Vineyard in Paso Robles is seeking a National Sales Manager.  We are looking for a candidate with experience in the national wholesale market who will work to build sales and distribution in conjunction with our national marketing agent and our network of wholesalers around the United States.

Candidates must be hard and independent workers, outgoing and good with the public, and have good relationships with key restaurant, retail and media contacts in important national markets.  A pre-existing passion for the wines and story of Tablas Creek is a big plus.

The position will report to Jason Haas, Partner and General Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years minimum experience as a sales manager with a wine supplier or wine distributor, or the equivalent, within the American wine industry
  • A passion for fine wine and enthusiasm for communicating that passion
  • Willingness and interest in spending as needed up to 3 weeks per month on the road, with an annual average of 40%-50% of time spent on the road 
  • The flexibility to work long hours and weekends as necessary
  • Strong contacts at the distributor, restaurant and retail level in key markets around the United States
  • Outstanding oral communication skills and comfort presenting to groups and speaking in public
  • A desire to teach and educate the public, and the patience to do so
  • Self-motivated and organized; able to work effectively without direct oversight, yet able to work as part of a team and execute company goals
  • Must be located near, or willing to relocate to, Paso Robles, CA.
  • Good computer skills, particularly with Excel
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent
  • Comfortable standing and pouring wine for significant periods of time
  • Comfortable walking over uneven ground leading tours of the vineyard and winery
  • Current valid driver’s license with clean record
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be over 21 years of age

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Contacts within the wine media and wine blogging world
  • Experience in wine production
  • Previous experience representing Tablas Creek
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience with international wine sales, particularly in Canada, Japan, China and the UK.
  • Experience with analyzing depletions and inventories and setting goals for distributors
  • Comfort with social media, particularly Facebook and Twitter
  • Knowledge of and passion for the wines of the Rhone Valley and for American Rhone wines

Salary Information: Depends on qualifications, but includes medical, dental and vision benefits, profit sharing, 401K, reimbursement of expenses, schedule flexibility, and paid holidays/vacation.
