We are going to bottle our 2001 Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc (formerly Clos Blanc), 2000 Esprit de Beaucastel (formerly Reserve Cuvée), 2000 Petite Cuvée and 2001 Rosé in April. The wines are currently blended and waiting in stainless steel tanks to be bottled. The wines are wonderfully ripe and fruity. The rosé will be released soon and the 2000 reds this fall. Approximately 25 additional acres of our vineyard is in production this year. In preparation we have expanded our fermentation capacity by adding two 3000-gallon and four 1500-gallon stainless steel tanks to our cellar. To increase our aging capacity two 1200-gallon Seguin-Moreau oak foudres and additional French oak barrels have also been added. |

Bottling of the 1999 Reds & 2000 Whites was completed in July 2001. A total of 5498 cases were bottled. The 2000 White wines were released nationally on September 4, 2001 and the 1999 Reds in March of 2002. |

The vineyard in April is just beginning to wake up. The rainy season began on October 31st and we received several substantial rains, subsequently. However, as of early April we received only 14 inches total making the winter 2001/2002 significantly rain-deficient. The spring has been generally cool with numerous frosts, keeping the vines dormant later than 2001. The cover crop is thriving which helps to keep erosion to a minimum and provides nitrogen fixation to the soil. Pruning of the vines began late in January and will continue into April. |

Rootstock fields are fully dormant and harvested. Harvesting of these fields began on January 7th and was completed in March. To view our complete nursery harvest process click here.
