White Hot in Imbibe

Imbibe Magazine: White Hot

We are excited to be featured in the May/June 2026 issue of Imbibe Magazine, as part of writer Amy Beth Wright's article titled "White Hot, In a warming world, grapes of the Southern
Rhône Valley are thriving stateside." Amy Beth explores the "quiet revolution" of southern Rhône white varieties and their unique ability to thrive in a changing climate.

The article highlights Tablas Creek as a benchmark for Rhône-style wines in California and a long-time advocate for their visibility. It traces our history from the 1989 partnership between the Haas and Perrin families and our work with the Rhône Rangers to promote these varieties across the United States.

General Manager Jason Haas shares his perspective on why these grapes are perfectly suited for this moment:

Everything is ripening earlier, and higher acid white Rhônes will likely do better than others because they evolved in places that are hotter and drier than Burgundy or the Loire.

The piece also spotlights our single varietal Grenache Blanc, noting its signature creamy texture and full body with notes of orange zest, green apple, and fennel.

Dogumentary TV: These Guardian Dogs Work 24/7 So Farmers Don't Have To

Tablas Creek recently welcomed Zeke Dickson of Dogumentary TV to explore the critical role of livestock guardian dogs in our vineyard. The feature highlights how our Spanish Mastiffs and Turkish Boz serve as essential components of our regenerative farming program.

Regenerative Specialist Erin Mason explains the history of our canine program and why we selected these specific breeds. The dogs protect our flock of sheep from local predators like coyotes and mountain lions while remaining gentle with visitors in our tasting room.

Elite Traveler: These Wineries Around the World are Rethinking Sustainability

In a global survey of environmental leadership, Elite Traveler (syndicated via MSN) identified seven winemakers taking a "more considered approach" to their land. We were honored to be featured alongside iconic estates like Spottswoode and Familia Torres, with the article highlighting our specific ecosystem-based approach to vineyard management.

At eco-friendly Tablas Creek winery, in California’s Paso Robles region, owls zap vine-root-eating gophers, chickens gobble up destructive insects, and black-faced sheep chow down on the weeds between rows of vines, pausing from time to time to fertilize the soil.

Beyond our animal inhabitants, the article explores the deeper "pillars" of our farming philosophy. It notes that while we have been certified organic and biodynamic for decades, our transition to Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) status in 2020 marked a commitment to carbon sequestration, animal welfare, and social fairness. By involving the farming crew in decision-making and prioritizing soil health, the piece notes that Tablas Creek "paved the way for more wineries to join the application process."

Mashed: 14 Underrated Red Wines To Try In 2026

In a fun piece for Mashed, author Hayley Hamilton Cogill highlights 14 wines made from unexpected grapes, unusual places, or both. Her first recommendation was our Grenache. From her writeup:

From America's first Regenerative Organic Certified winery, located in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, California, Tablas Creek crafts its spicy, fruit-forward grenache. Garrigue aromas and a hint of pepper invite you in, followed by layers of wild berries, cherries, and licorice. Limestone soils fill Tablas Creek's estate vineyards, giving the wine subtle crushed stone and saline notes. While structured and concentrated, the 14.5%-alcohol wine is also completely approachable, with balance, aromatic freshness, and fruit-forward flavors.
